Business Analyst (Finance & Reporting – Banking)

We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst to join a leading regional bank on a 12-month contract. This role sits within Group Technology & Operations and focuses on supporting transformation initiatives related to finance and reporting systems. The successful candidate will work closely with Finance and Technology teams to analyze business requirements, define functional specifications, and ensure solutions effectively support financial reporting and operational processes.

Mandatory Skill(s)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or related discipline;
  • Must have 5-7 years of experience as a Business Analyst within banking or financial services, preferably in Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A); 
  • Must have hands-on experience in Finance or Reporting domains, such as management reporting, financial consolidation, or general ledger systems; 
  • Must have experience in documenting “to-be” processes, defining functional and non-functional requirements, and managing scope and risks;
  • Must have working knowledge of SQL, VB, or Python;
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills;
  • Familiarity with project and change management frameworks;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel. 

Desirable Skill(s)

  • Experience with finance or reporting platforms (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Hyperion, Anaplan, or related tools);
  • Knowledge of finance and reporting systems;
  • Understanding of banking operational and technology processes;
  • Experience supporting testing and deployment activities;
  • Strategic, resourceful, and able to manage ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business users and finance specialists to gather, review, and document business and functional requirements;
  • Analyze and define "to-be" business processes and operational processes, performing impact assessments for new initiatives or enhancements;
  • Develop detailed functional and non-functional specifications, ensuring alignment with business objectives;
  • Liaise with IT teams to translate requirements into technical design and ensure accurate implementation;
  • Support testing activities by validating scenarios, clarifying findings, and ensuring traceability of requirements;
  • Manage change requests, assess scope impacts and risks, and maintain control of deliverables;
  • Prepare functional release notes and contribute to deployment and training plans;
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of system features, workflows, and regulatory requirements to provide ongoing subject matter expertise.
