The Strategic Planning role functions as a strategic partner and trusted business enabler to senior management. The position is responsible for leading AML and AFC-related projects, overseeing AML systems and data analytics strategy, driving analytical initiatives, and strengthening regulatory compliance capabilities across the organisation.
Mandatory Skill(s)
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Finance, Business Administration, Computer Science or related field; advanced degrees or certifications in AML, compliance or data science preferred;
- Minimum 7–10 years of experience in financial services with hands-on exposure to AML systems and compliance, including at least 5 years in project management or PMO roles;
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities with experience deriving insights from large datasets for project and compliance strategies;
- In-depth understanding of AML/CFT regulations, transaction monitoring systems and anti-financial crime compliance best practices;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across compliance, data science, IT and external vendors and present findings to senior management;
- High level of integrity, meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work in dynamic and fast-paced environments.
Desirable Skill(s)
- Understanding of AI/ML applications in compliance;
- Knowledge of automation tools such as Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and familiarity with advanced analytics for AFC applications;
- Experience in model governance, AML system optimisation and data-driven compliance methodologies;
- Ability to translate technical and analytical insights into concise management-ready reports;
- Agile, inquisitive and self-driven mindset with strong adaptability.
Responsibilities
- Leading end-to-end AML and AFC projects from planning to closure, providing project plans, status updates, risk assessments and communication strategies;
- Managing change requests for AML systems while identifying and mitigating regulatory, operational and project risks;
- Collaborating with stakeholders across compliance, data science, IT and external vendors to align objectives and resolve cross-functional issues;
- Acting as SME for AML systems and DA models, providing insights on system implementation, model requirements and regulatory expectations;
- Overseeing AML system enhancements and ensuring effective integration with compliance and operational needs;
- Developing and maintaining visual dashboards and synthesising analytics into concise management reports for decision-making;
- Supporting high-priority AFC initiatives and contributing to advanced data model development for AFC analytics;
- Providing training on AML systems, data-driven AFC approaches, model governance and regulatory analytics;
- Driving innovation by adopting emerging data science, machine learning and AI techniques to enhance AFC system capabilities.
